Overview
Volunteers are essential to our school community. Both veteran and new parents are strongly encouraged to volunteer - it is a great way to be involved. There are a variety of ways you make an impact, and many do not require a significant time commitment. Any amount of time spent on these activities is greatly appreciated. Parents with babies or small children can inquire about child care opportunities during your volunteer time. Here is a brief description of some of our volunteer activities.
Room Parents are responsible for calling new parents in their child's homeroom to welcome them, answer questions and assist teachers with classroom celebrations and other requests. They are asked to occasionally recruit parents from their class to help with lunchroom serving for their child's class and for other FSA-sponsored school events. We need at least two room parents per class.
Book Fair Volunteers can help with setup or act as cashiers at the Book Fair in the fall. We need approximately 20 volunteers to work a three hour shift for each event.
Open House Volunteers help direct prospective parents and students to the classrooms and answer basic questions about the school during our open house.
Gala and Auction Volunteers assist the Gala committees with preparation and execution of one of our main fundraising events, the annual Spring Gala. The event is a fun, adults-only evening featuring delicious food, musical entertainment, and live and silent auctions.
Baking Volunteers are needed from time to time (e.g. cookies, cupcakes, etc.).
We also need help during the year with special events such as picture day, the teacher appreciation lunch, graduation and other single day events.
